GLENDALE CITY HALL & DCRP
Details
Overview
Located in the heart of Old Town Glendale, the City Hall and downtown campus—originally built in the 1980s as a traditional office complex—are being transformed through the DCRP project into a vibrant civic hub. The renovation reimagines the interior, exterior, and site to create an active destination that strengthens the campus’ connection to the surrounding downtown.
The project addresses decades of deferred maintenance and modernizes systems that had exceeded their lifespan, positioning City Hall and the Council Chambers for the next 50 years. New building systems and envelope upgrades significantly enhance environmental quality, energy performance, and daylighting, while universal rest rooms, three new elevators, and fully accessible circulation routes ensure equitable access throughout the campus.
Designed to support a modern municipal workforce, the interior renovation rethinks departmental relationships and introduces open offices, flexible meeting and collaboration zones, and wellness amenities. To enable improvements to workspaces, storage for the City Clerk and other departments were consolidated in high-density archives within the basement level and a new digital archives department was established to move the city towards a paperless future.
