Overview
Serving as a gateway to the University of Colorado Denver’s Anschutz Medical Campus, the Health and Wellness Center is designed to foster a culture of sustainable, healthy lifestyles and disease prevention. “Raising the bar” above the typical health and wellness center, the 95,000 sf, four-story facility combines research and care focusing on alternative and complementary medicines, holistic wellness , nutrition and weight management.
The building’s architectural expression harmonizes with the campus context and highlights the activity within through indoor/outdoor visual connections. A dynamic two-story lobby, demonstration kitchen, nutrition lab with bistro, and a fitness center anchor the ground floor. The two-story volume of the fitness
center visually connects to the outside through a transparent expression on the north façade, projecting an active, healthy image to the campus and the Denver community. The fitness center features state-of-the-art exercise equipment and technology, with amenities that include a therapy pool, steam room, sauna, whirlpool, walking track, and exercise studios.
A second-floor clinical trials center linked to research overlaps with the lobby experience. The third and fourth floors are dedicated to collaborative office space connected by a two-story atrium and common wellness lounge, which supports interaction among the resident research community housed in the building. The wellness lounge adjoins a roof garden featuring mountain views of the Colorado front-range.
