Conceived of as a remodel to bring a family home, constructed in the late 1980’s, into its next 40 years, the Kachina Residence remodel retools the home’s existing layout to adapt to it’s Owner’s retirement. The project adds a flexible guest suite and home gym with views of the pool, a new loft and front balcony with panoramic views of Phoenix’s South Mountain, and a third car garage.  Within the existing home, a new walnut and steel stair clarifies circulation and establishes an open and daylit entry. The complete renovation of the kitchen, master suite, powder bath, and laundry integrated custom millwork and built-in appliances to enhance livability and serve as the hub of extended family gatherings, while providing dedicated spaces adapted to the Owners' hobbies in retirement.
