Overview
The Prochnow Auditorium was built in 1951 as part of a two wing structure also housing the North Union. The original auditorium design was very much inspired by the art deco movement. The theater was in need of cosmetic repairs, a lighting renovation and minor programmatic improvements. The design team’s main goal was to update and refresh the venue while maintaining its original character and charm. The original theater’s neon lighting coves and niches have been reactivated with LED lighting and a starry sky ceiling has been added alluding to to the prominent Flagstaff night sky.
